Maggie Armstong has a fun challenge for us all this month.....
Blind Scrapping is a challenge of a completely different sort! You are given a
set of written instructions only, and your mission is to interpret these and
create your layout accordingly. The winner of the challenge is the person whose
layout most closely resembles the sample (which you won't be allowed to see
until the challenge date closes!).
Supplies:
1 12x12 sheet cardstock
2 x co-ordinating double-sided patterned papers
¼ sheet co-ordinating cardstock
4 inch length of trim
Corner rounder
1 inch or 1 ½ inch circle punch
Two 7 inch lengths of string or bakers twine
Small cluster of embellishments
Ink
1 x portrait photo (either 4x6 or 5x7)
Instructions:
1. Cut a rectangle measuring 11 inches across x 7 inches down
from Paper A,
then cut in half width ways ( you should now have 2 pieces
measuring 11 x 3 ½).
2. Ink edges and adhere horizontally to centre of Cardstock,
using side 1 for 1
one strip and side 2 for the other,
3. Cut a strip of paper from Paper B (side 2)
measuring 11 x 1 inch.
4. Ink edges and adhere horizontally to centre of cardstock,
on top of Paper A strips.
5. Cut a rectangle from Paper B (side 1) measuring
7 ½ inches down x 4 inches across.
6. Round all 4 corners and ink edges.
7. Adhere to the layout, positioning the top edge approximately
2 inches down from
the top edge of the cardstock and the left edge approximately
4 inches in from the left edge
of the cardstock.
8. Create 2 tags from the ¼ sheet of cardstock, each measuring
3 ½ x 2 inches. Ink edges.
9. Punch hole in top of each tag
(create a reinforcement circle if you wish) and thread a
length of twine/string through each.
10. Adhere the first tag to layout, positioning it so the right
edge of the tag sits against
the left side of the rounded corner rectangle you created
in step 5 and 1 ¾ inches from
the top edge of the layout.
11. Pull the string/twine on the tag taut vertically,
then firmly adhere the end of the string
up and over on the back side of the layout.
Paper A
(side 1 and 2)
Cardstock
¼ sheet cardstock
Paper B
(side 1 and 2)
12. Adhere the second tag to layout, positioning
it so the right edge of the tag sits
against the left side of the rounded corner rectangle you
created in step 5 and 1 ¾ inches
from the bottom edge of the layout.
13. Pull the string/twine taut vertically and adhere the end down
and under on the back side
of the layout.
14. Position your photo now, fell free to crop your photo to suit if necessary.
15. Adhere photo to centre of the rounded corner rectangle.
16. Cut a length of trim (approximately 3 ½ inches)
and adhere to the bottom right hand edge
of the strip you cut in step 3.
17. Punch three 1 – 1 ½ inch circles from any of your remaining
patterned paper. Ink edges.
18. Position these circles in a triangular shape in the gap between the two tags.
These circles will form the base of your embellishment cluster.
19. Create a small cluster of embellishments to cover the gap.
You can use flowers, bling, resin pieces, leaves, charms etc.
Try placing some of them so they slightly overlap the edge of the photo.
20. To finish, create a title and place it near the top right
corner of your photo.
Enjoy the challenge You have until the 31st of October, mid-night to email your entry to Sonya at..duntroongarage@xtra.co.nz, or simply upload it to our Facebook page.
